REC POTENTIAL-2 has supplied the equipment to purify and de-iron drinking water on the basis of the UKOS-VOD-CWP unit with a capacity of 3.5 m3/day for the Russian Railways linear site, the R&R center for locomotive crews at the Pytalovo Okrug station on the border crossing with Latvia. The installation is designed to meet household and drinking needs of 20 employees of Russian Railways rolling stock. The issue was high level of iron (14 mg/l or more), which made the water unsuitable for drinking. REC POTENTIAL-2 went through a full development for the facility including its design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning.
On June 3, 2015, the equipment was put into operation on the basis of water analysis protocols and acceptance certificate. During its commissioning activities, stable positive results were obtained. Based on the analyzes by the certified laboratory of the Russian Railways, the post-treatment concentrations of iron, hardness salts and a number of other impurities were reduced to the levels of normative indicators required for drinking water. The Russian Railways decided to use that experience at all similar facilities.
