Block-modular water treatment complex (BMWC) UKOS-VOD-FP is designed for post-treatment of natural and waste water by non-pressure filtration through single-, double- or multi-layered granular charge with a density greater than the density of water. Quartz sand, crushed anthracite and expanded clay are used as granular loading, as well as other granular filter materials that meet the established sanitary and epidemiological requirements.
The housing of post-treatment station is equipped with a hatch for loading filter media. In the lower part of the housing there is a drainage-distribution system for collecting filtered water and distributing the flushing water. Above the filtering load there are distribution trays for collecting the flushing and distributing on of the water to be purified. The distribution tray is located in the side pocket. For preventive maintenance an inspection hatch is arranged on the side wall. To control the station and adjust its operating parameters, it is equipped with shut-off and control valves.
The unit is equipped with the following process nozzles:
- initial water inlet
- filtered water outlet
- flushing water inlet
- flushing water outlet
- discharge of first portions of filtrate
- overflow pipe
Due to constant design upgrades of water post-treatment station, changes may be introduced to that design.
BMWC UKOS-VOD-FP may be applied in:
- systems of two-stage reagent purification of natural waters after sedimentation tanks, clarifiers with suspended sediment layer, flotators, contact prefilters;
- systems of single-stage reagent purification of natural waters;
- systems of partial clarification of natural waters used for technical purposes;
- systems of deironing, defluorization, softening, and manganese removal from natural waters;
- systems of household wastewater treatment;
- systems of fine treatment of industrial wastewater after mechanical, biological or physico-chemical pre-treatment facilities.
The conditions of application and operation of the installation are in accordance with the applicable rules and regulations, related to fast filters.
Operation principle of filter for post-treatment of natural and waste water
If necessary, purified water is first pre-treated with reagents followed by clarification. After that, clarified water is fed to UKOS-VOD-FP, where it passes through distribution chutes to the upper part of the unit. Then it passes through the filtering load going from top to bottom and is collected by the drainage system. From the drainage system, purified water flows through the filtrate drainage system into the clean water tank from where it is fed to the water supply system. After passing through the BMWC, purified water may also be passed through an ultraviolet disinfection installation, if necessary.
The sewage treatment filter is periodically flushed with purified water fed into the integrated washer system from the clean water tank. Contaminated flushing water is collected via a distribution chute into the side pocket and then diverted to the sump. Also, flushing can be carried out from a pressure tower or using special washing pumps.

The UKOS-VOD-FP installation may be produced in three versions: carbon and stainless steel, as well as plastic.
